Sunday Punch, an occupier of one of the affected buildings Demore Street, D-Line Port Harcourt, said the fire trigger began from the lowest among the six houses near each other.
The occupant of the severely affected house, Mr. Segundo Baar, explained that the efforts of the young people living in the compound could not extinguish the fire because it spread to other apartments.
Baar said that although the cause of the fire could not be established immediately, many suspected a spark of an electric wire or electric stove.
He said one of the houses that was terribly hit had about 15 rooms and 60 occupants, adding that particular building was completely destroyed by fire.
"The fire started from the lowest house down there and moved to the main building where now climbed.The lost property is countless.The air conditioning and other appliances have been devoured by fire.
"Life is not lost. Suddenly I became a homeless man when I speak with you, "Baar said.
Sunday Punch said the building was the most affected belonging to the Pentecostal Mission of the Society, adding that the occupants lived there for free because of the high rent in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.
Another occupant of the affected home said the fire department of Rivers State Fire Department arrived about 30 minutes after the outbreak of the fire and were able to stop the spread of hell.
The resident, who identified himself as David, said that some young people quickly mixed with detergent and spilled water on the fire, adding that the effort is not extinguished the hell, Other buildings in 15 minutes.
"We can not choose to be the cause of the fire, and when we tried to extinguish it, it moved quickly to other houses. 'There were no men from the fire department, other homes were destroyed,' said David.
