Yemi Alade, a fast climbing singer, had an interesting conversation with punch about his career and other topics:
Background
I was born in the State of Abia. My late father, a Yoruba, was a retired police officer while my mother is a businesswoman born to Commissioner Igbo. I am not one of those children who frequent the parties, because my father was a discipline. However, the growth was fun for me.
Education
I attended the École de Saint-Sauveur, Victoria Grammar School, and then studied geography at the University of Lagos.
Music
I grew up listening to music because when I was a kid, my father liked to listen to King Sunny Ade. I did not want to be an artist, but I loved music. It was when I won the Pic Talent Show I realized I had to make a career out of it. My mother was the first person to believe in me and always supported me. She often gave me money to buy clothes and get ready for the shows.
The Role Models
In Nigeria, I love P-Square and Omawumi. Outside the country, he is Beyonce and JayZ.
S*xual harassment
The owners of the label and the promoters of the show are all guilty of this. Sexual harassment comes in different levels; Some are strong, some are subtle, and some even go through third parties. However, I have never encountered a situation that was very uncomfortable. Once I see the signs, I run and the person does not even have the opportunity to spend with their diabolical plans. There are people who looked at me in industry, but surprisingly, also wanted s * x.
Record Label
In the future, I would be delighted to have a file. But honestly, if you want to have the kind of label that actually prepare superstars, I do not think it's something you can do overnight. For artists float record labels easily, I think the experience is the best teacher. Most of them realized that acted before the appropriate time.
Memorable Moments
Every day is another chance to be grateful. The highlights are so many, but I know the number one is coming. That moment would be when I bring home a Grammy. However, there are many times that I appreciate and represents Africa in the Make Tomorrow campaign done in partnership with Shell is one of them. Superstars like Jenifer Hudson were in this campaign, and I was the only African.
Favorite Songs
All my songs are dear to my heart, but some stand out. In the album King of Queens, the bamboo song is memorable because I received inspiration and written on a motorcycle. In the album Mama Africa, the song Africa also plays a chord. From the moment I wrote it, I had been out of the continent for a long time, so wanted to go home.
Tiwa Savage, Seyi Shay and Chidinma do not know why the media are happy to face a big woman against each other. Have you ever seen a text message from one of us castigating someone else? There is no proof of these things; It is only in the imagination of people. I never stopped working and were working before Tiwa Savage in Nigeria. I'm a fan of his music, and on my Snapchat page, usually dance songs. Tiwa Savage not consider a friend because you do not know your favorite color or food and other intimate things. She's just my colleague.
Current Projects
We are working on my first round the world which lasted about a year. I will visit all the continents of the world.
Relaxation
Tomo good wine, I see good movies, like good food, and generally taking life easy.
false Idea
I think people generalize too often. I find that most people do not think I'm turned on, and can hold a meaningful conversation. This is one of the biggest misconceptions about me.
