Two days before they went public with their split, the singer quietly and officially called it quits on his fourth marriage.

It has just been revealed that Marc Anthony filed for divorce from his wife Shannon de Lima, 28, on December 16.

The 48-year-old singer officially filed legal documents - obtained by TheDirty.com - two days prior to announcing he and his wife of two years were over.

In the documents, which came to light on Wednesday, the singer states that his marriage 'irretrievably broken'.

The couple - who wed November 2014 - announced back on December 18 that their union was over.

'After

much consideration, we have mutually and amicably decided to end our two year marriage,' the couple said in a statement.

'We ask for privacy during this difficult process, and no further comments will be made from either one of us about this personal matter.'

The pair were married for two years and have no children together. It was the singer's fourth marriage.
